I've got to admit that I've been drawn to sparkly, shiny things lately - maybe its the latent or belated holiday spirit in me or something - first it was the gold pants, an Ellery gold shirt (which I'll show you soon) and this. The first time I saw this dress I loved it - its irresistibly quirky Miu Miu cross Jill Sander cross Karen Walker vibe just drew me in instantly but I wasn't sure if I was ready for so much sparkle...and so I left it behind... pondered about it and the next day I new I had to buy it nonetheless....So here I am wearing a Holyn sparkly knit dress in the middle of the summer... I thought that it would be ok for a breezy summer day - I was so wrong!

Hey there folks, Sorry I cant indulge you with travel photos any longer - we arrived back in Brisbane two days before yesterday... For once I was glad to be back to some warm weather - I've just had way too much of winter over the past year. As mad as we are, the first thing we did the day after getting back was venture on a little shopping trip to check out what was left of the end of season sales... I wore this tiny white dress I picked up in Seoul - The only way I can describe its beautiful fabric is that its a combination between fur and feathers - kind of like 'angel wings' or something... I love how this dress makes my 'miget-like' 5"5 self look quite a lot taller....

Seoul (The capital of South Korea) is surely my favourite city on the planet - Everything about this place has me loving it - its Chicness and modernity, its culture, food, the people and my god the shopping is to die for and the general people even are painfully fashionable! We have actually had to purchase a new suitcase for all our new purchases and now are worrying that we might need another one! Like Japan (or maybe even more so)Korea homes some of the coolest undiscovered local designers - I can't wait to share our new purchases with you! The one and only setback is the weather - it is waaaaaay too cold - I find myself frozen to the bone after being out and about on the streets for a few minutes + where else do you find snow in the first week of December?
Oh and I am so sorry If I haven't replied to your comment/emails recently - my travels have been keeping me away from the computer but I'll try to reply to them all ASAP!! Oh and FINALLY the comment function is back to normal!

Do you own a dress that is like your safety blanket? that without thinking you always turn to when you have nothing else to wear? that you turn to when you just want to feel comfy but not look like a dag or still feel great wearing? Well for me, this is definitely that dress... I have worn this dress to bits over the past few months to the extent that its probably become uniformesque to me... I find myself wearing it to Uni all the time, out and about, to work - that is the magic of it - that it is wearable on virtually any occasion... I think I've limited myself to wearing it fortnightly now or weekly if I can't help it...

And so I decided to post about it, to pay some homage to this delightful little dress that has been so good to me

But I am currently trying to make it through the most excruciating time of year - STUDYING FOR FINAL EXAMS... I have four - Evolution, Zoology, Chemistry and Genetics - each one more painful than the next... I feel like I've been studying for these for ages but have got just about no revision done yet because I've just been procrastinating and looking at blogs and online shops and such which seem oh so tempting when you know you shouldn't be looking at them! Also I can't help looking for new things to buy to wear on my trip to Japan and Korea next month although I know I shouldn't because I will be able to buy what I need for it there... When I went shopping last weekend I was determined to purchase something new as I hadn't bought anything in a while and was in serious need of some new spring clothing - At first I had absolutely no luck - I tried on so many beautiful things but nothing seemed to be exactly what I was looking for although I didn't even quite know what I was looking for myself... Until, at our last stop, the lovely girls at the Loft helped me choose out this outfit by Arnsdorf which is perhaps now one of my favourite spring outfits at the moment - I have to say that the pictures do it no justice... it has beautiful green stitching throughout it which gives it this lovely,simple decadence

We are also highly anticipating the Young Emerging designers show (on the same night) in order to preview SOOT.'s new collection however unfortunately couldn't make it as Tasfia was feeling unwell!:(
Also I know that I ALWAYs saying so but- I'm so sorry that I haven't posted in a while - I am currently trying to make it through the two (unarguably) busiest weeks of my life - with two exams and 3 assignments due!

Here are the three pairs of shoes I purchased during my stay in Dubai - all three I purchased on sale...As you may or may not have noticed, I have been in desperate need of new shoes for some time now. Brisbane has the poorest selection of shoes and so I never really purchase any while I am here and I am also somewhat apprehensive about how the sizing will turn out upon buying shoes online and so these three pairs were much needed...

While we were in Dubai, we stayed at a delightful hotel/resort called The Atlantis. It was built upon an artificial Island in the middle of the sea and half of built and submerged in the deep sea. Besides it being beautiful, my favourite thing about it were all the aquatic activities it offered such as scuba diving and swimming with Dolphins, Sharks and Rays. And so the majority of our time in Dubai was divvied up between either shopping or doing activities at the hotel...

I've been meaning to post more often but I've just been so busy. I intended to get some decent shopping done in Dubai but just about any decent potentially likeable clothing item has been by your mainstream luxury high enders like Givenchy, YSL, Celine, Chanel etc. and so have been excessively expensive...But fortunately there are fairly decent end of season sales on and so I have been able to make a few purchases which I probably spent more on than I have spent in the entire last 6 months combined (although thanks to my parents who were surprisingly generous on this trip:) )... I can't wait to share them with you soon! Below are some pictures way back from our second day in Abu Dhabi (before we came to Dubai) - It was so incredibly hot that we resorted to capturing outfit photographs on our balcony rather than in the infernal desert outdoors....

So sorry about my long absence! I am currently overseas on vacation in the UAE with my family... here are pictures of our first day in Abu dhabi where we were for a few days before heading off to dubai for the majority of the trip. To be perfectly honest, there wasn't too much to do in Abu Dhabi besides hanging around the hotel which actually isn't too bad as we are staying at the waaaay overly indulgent Emirates Palace hotel where the time seems to just pass by rather quickly while just lazing around the pool and beach and using the hotel facilities... more pictures to come very soon! xx

Despite this sounding rather cliche and also rather lame, this week, although it was a dreadfully tiring one in terms of University work... it was a rather pleasant one for our wardrobe. Tasfia finally picked up her Claude Maus lay-by which she had been waiting to collect until it became sufficiently cold and finally bought the Deadly Ponies Bag she has been eyeing for weeks. My most anticipated sample sale of the year was also on this weekend. Also, the Eighteenth asymmetric maxi skirt which I've been eagerly awaiting arrived. It is one of the most versatile and comfortable items of clothing I own and it is perfect for this autumn-winter transition occurring at the moment. It is from one of the coolest online stores around, called I don't like mondays which stocks the most interesting labels around like Alexander Wang, Barbara Gongini, Odeur and Obesity and speed. It also has a lovely collection of jackets available there at the moment and the nicest heels by United Nude. Sadly I'm so cash deprived the moment but now I definitely know where I'll be spending my next allowance on :)

Firstly sorry about my lack of current posts. My University reopened this week, and I've already become so busy. Again, my timetable is rather hectic - I am at Uni 5 days a week, from 8am to 5pm pretty much every day! But I'll try to keep up and post as often as I can! :) This is the first week of autumn here although it is warmer than any summer day this year. I really despise all aspects of summer; clothing must be kept to a bare minimum, it is highly uncomfortable and just walking for five minutes outside makes one feel immensely unclean and drained of energy. this is an older photograph by the way. I wish it would get cooler so that I could begin wearing, simple, effortless yet chic outifts like this. Mostly, I love the layering opportunities brought about by winter.

So here is the Rick Owens jacket I broke the banks for and recently blogged about on flesh. This is perhaps my favourite item of clothing at the moment and so I've slightly overloaded this post with similar photographs as I wanted to show just how versatile this piece is. I am wearing it with my favourite complex geometries item .Whether it is a tank or dress I am not entirely sure however that I love about this garment- that it can be transfigured and transformed to be worn in so many different ways. Each time I put it on I seem to find a new way to wear it - I can wear it as a cowl neck dress or even wrap it around as a halter type dress.

Apologies for sharing this and my last two posts in such a flat and somewhat unengaging manner however it being summer here prevents me from wearing it out anytime soon so I thought I might as well share it with you this way. Also, I'm sorry about my lack of recent posts although I am on break from University - the recent weather conditions and the fact that Tas is still overseas prevents me from going out to do anything particularly interesting or blogable. Hopefully by next week I'll have some of my usual photographs to post! :)

Firstly, sorry about the bomb photo quality - contrary to how it appears, it was raining on and off the whole day.And because of that, my hair is also in dire straits.
Just yesterday, Tas and I painsakingly finished our last end of year exams.. I absolutely abhor exam times - the little to nothing sleep, sugar binges and prolonged tiredness has caused permanent dark circles to form..However today we slept in, then watched the latest Harry Potter film and went out with Emily afterwards in the evening - much needed relaxation after the tumultous ordeal that are final exams... Now we have three months off University and I cannot wait to engage in all sorts of exciting new things to share with you!

So right now it either too ridiculously early or late to be up but for some reason which my current sleep deprived state doesnt fully allow me to understand, I feel I should post this. So yesterday it was our ( Tasfia's and mine) eighteenth birthday. During the day ( before lectures, ( well cut a few) ) Emily, Tas and I celebrated over tea and deserts and then went to Uni for a Lecture.On Monday night, Our dad flew over for a few days (from some work he is overseas at the moment) just for our birthday so we didnt go out at night to make use of our newly achieved legality, but had a nice, comfortable dinner with our parents.

So I am sitting iin the library at Uni at the moment and FINALLY have the chance to view SS11 collections. This pask week has been crazy that it felt as if I did not even have time to stop and breathe! - Long hours at University ( 42 hrs total !), many many assignments, late nights,alternating rain and unbearable heat and an immense coffee dependence if I did drink coffee. Fortunately, Friday night meant some chance or unwinding at the mystical Rufus Wainwright concert I went to on Friday and a little shopping on Saturday. But right afterwards, I've reverted to study mode to make up for all my skipped lectures and laziness throughout the semester in preparation of final exams next month. At the moment, Looking through much loved fashion blogs such as The Style Bubble and Fashiontoast documenting current global fashion weeks , I feel somewhat jealous of the beautiful clothes, and faces and places they are able to experience ( a little cliche? !) while I am stuck back in taciturn little Brisbane, having to deal with quantum mechanics and photosynthesis.
By some strange coincidence, this week I ran into three different individuals who I hadnt seen at all this semester.. they all expected me to be in London Studying fashion photography at the moment. Upon telling them that I had chosen to study science instead, I received entirely blank expressions - as if they could not come up with a single reason why I would chose to study science over photography.And I totally understand this reaction. From an outsider studying science probably seems rather dry and mundane. But in studying science, I feel like I have a sense of clarity and direction which I never had when I studied photography. Despite my immense busy-ness, In a way, I quite like being challenged and on my toes at times!
Anyway, Sorry about being a bit repetitive with the designers I share with you ( despite the few 'designer' posts I have). But I suppose that the collections of this quartet have never failed to impress me. When I think of what I wish I could afford to always wear, I pretty much think no further than Gareth Pugh, Comme Des Garcons, Rick Owens and Martin Margiela... they are so perfect in their own (very) different ways..
Anyway I am so sorry about the recent lack of posts.. However next week, I turn 18 and I plan on going out quite a lot over the next week.. + I have so many delightful new pieces in my wardrobe which are just waiting to be shared with you...

We went shopping with the final bit of birthday money we had left, and had perhaps one of our best shopping days. Tasfia is wearing her a Gary Bigeni Dress which is perhaps one of my favourite items that she owns. Not only is it highly versatile and wearable, it is elegant and extravagant in its own way, in all of its minimalism. It's fabric is also so light and subtly indulgent.

Midsemester Break

Our much anticipated midsemester break feels as if its over almost before it has really begun. Although the last few days have definitely catered for some much needed rest and relaxation. Over the past week we've browsed through stores in order to find potential birthday gifts, delighted in the obscurity and humour of some films, finally finished reading books that I've been intending to read all semester, indulged in Tasfia's new found culinary calling and maybe most importantly, counted down the days until our 18th birthday next month! No, I've probably been counting down towards it for the last two years!

Despite having an unfathomably large study load, a midsemester exam this week and assignments to hand in, I was peer pressured into attending The Valentino Retrospective : Past, Present and Future exhibition. Unfortunately, photography was not allowed :(. T'was definitely worth it though. I am so very delighted that it came to our humble little city.
